"Twas The Night Before Jesus Came"

'Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house Not a creature was praying, not one in the house. Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care In hopes that Jesus would not come there. The children were dressing to crawl into bed. Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head. And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap. When out of the East there arose such a clatter. I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash! When what to my wondering eyes should appear But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here. With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray I knew in a moment this must be THE DAY! The light of His face made me cover my head It was Jesus! returning just like He had said. And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth, I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself. In the Book of Life which He held in His hand Was written the name of every saved man. He spoke not a word as He searched for my name; When He said "it's not here" my head hung in shame. The people whose names had been written with love He gathered to take to His Father above. With those who were ready He rose without a sound. While all the rest were left standing around. I fell to my knees, but it was too late; I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate. I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight; Oh, if only I had been ready tonight. In the words of this poem the meaning is clear; The coming of Jesus is drawing near. There's only one life and when comes the last call We'll find that the Bible was true after all!

How to meet God through these posts

Seven key points to Remember...

1) This resource is designed as a relationship journey with GOD, not a program or formula. These posts is comprised largely of GOD's own words from Scripture. As you read, reflect on His words, GOD can speak directly to your heart. These posts must be "prayed through" and not merely read. As you pray through these posts, you will literally be talking to GOD and He will talk to you. This process is not some program you do, it is a relationship you experience. It is not a one-time activity, but a continuing journey of growth with your loving Heavenly Father.

After each Scripture, you will find questions to examine your life in light of that particular verse. It is essential that you not rush this process! As you read each Scripture, ask GOD to reveal what He wants to change. When He reveals a sin, immediately confess it and trust CHRIST for victory over that sin. Above all, do not be discouraged if you discover many area of needed change. Our growth is a lifelong process, not a one-time event. GOD will definitely give you the grace to experience victory and He accepts you through the whole journey struggles and all.

2) Use a prayer notebook or journal as you work through these posts. As GOD reveals areas of sin, note it in your journal and be specific. {If you are concerned about privacy, use abbreviations that are clear only to you.} Be sure to identify specific ways to overcome the sinful patterns GOD reveals. Remember, it is not enough merely to confess a sin, it must also be forsaken.{Proverbs 28:13}. For each sin you identify, find a corresponding Scripture that promises victory and strength. It is indeed vital that you replace a sinful pattern with a specific GODly pattern. For help with this process, use a good concordance or the little book, "GOD's Promises for Your Every Need." By believing GOD's promise, you can find CHRIST's victory over any sin.

When you experience temptation and battle, use Scripture to resist the enemy. The Word of GOD is the sword of the Spirit and your weapons of warfare are mighty for pulling down of strongholds! {2 Corinthians 10:3-5}

3) Specifically ask GOD for deep conviction of sin and clear spiritual discernment. According to John 16:3 and 1 Corinthians 2:11, only GOD can bring true conviction and spiritual discernment. According to Jeremiah 17:9, we cannot even begin to know our own hearts without GOD's revelation. Above all, do not approach this journey as a mere mental exercise.

I also urge you to stay committed to the entire process. In other words, prayerfully go through all the Scriptures. Now days we have such a tendency to avoid serious time alone with our Holy GOD. We surround ourselves with activity and noise and many will do almost anything to avoid a deep cleansing encounter with GOD. Yet, such Bible-centered encounters are essential to discipleship and holiness!

4) Embrace the cleansing journey as a daily relationship with GOD, not a one-time experience. Daily confession and cleansing are the essence of walking in the Spirit! Let GOD guide you at the pace He sets for you.

This scriptural resource is especiaaly designed for use in your daily prayer time. In your daily quiet time, you can either pray through a couple of verses of briefly scan all the verses to see if GOD brings something to special awareness. When He does convict of sin,, pause and focus more attention on that area.

When usingf these posts as a part of your daily prayer time, I suggest you read and reflect on two or three Scriptures each day until you get through the entire resource. You can then start again at the beginning {or print as you go along.} In this manner, every area of your life will be thoroughly examined in continuous forty day cycles. You will be amazed how GOD will reveal different things each time through the resource!

I strongly suggest the use of this {or some} biblical resource to guide you in your daily cleansing and growth. This type of continual cleansing is the very essence of discipleship, growth and sanctification. Bible-centered cleansing and prayer are the process, you will experience a daily walk of supernatural holiness and power.

5) Approach the confession process with great assurance of GOD's mercy and blessing {Isaiah 1:18}. Do not be afraid of what GOD might show you. Whatever sin He reveals, CHRIST already died for it! And GOD already knows about it anyway. GOD doesn't convict you to condemn you, but to set you free! {John 8:36}.

Please do not be afraid GOD will ask you to do things you cannot do. He will surely give you the grace to make all the changes He requires. The mighty blessings of GOD will be well worth any changes He asks you to make! Above all, do not feel overwhelmed or discouraged. Do not feel that you must somehow become "perfect" overnight. No matter how much you have failed in the past, GOD will take you on a step by step journey of cleansing and renewal. This is an ongoing process and GOD's loving grace will cover you throughout the whole journey.

It is also important to understand that some sins may represent spiritual strongholds and could take some time to experience the full manifestation of victory. Sometimes believers think they are doing something wrong if they don't feel instantaneous victory with a single prayer or confession. Remember, this is a daily process of growth, not a one-time event. You have a kind Heavenly Father who will lovingly guide you all the way!

6) Be prepared for spiritual warfare {1 Peter 5:8}. According to GOD's Word, your spiritual enemy is very real. You need to be aware that Satan hates what you're setting out to do in this journey. He is terrified you might get clean before GOD and fully empowered by the Holy Spirit. He knows you will thendiscover awesome power in prayer and spiritual service. At all costs, Satan will fight to keep you from finishing your personal journey of revival.

Ephesians 6:11 mentions the "wiles" of the devil. That means he designs stragies to keep you from knowing and walking with GOD. For some, he will seek to use your busy schedule. {As mine!} In others he will use discouragement and guilt. Satan will tell you, "What's the use? You're such a failure and you may as well give up." {As he does with me, OFTEN!} For still others, he'll try to convince you that sin's grip is too strong and you'll never be free.

But never forget, dear reader, Satan is a liar and he is defeated. At its heart, effective spiritual warfare can be boiled down to one key principle: "Submit yourselves therefore to GOD, resist the devil and he will flee from you!" {James 4:8} In other words, as you confess your sins and choose to surrender to GOD, you can then tell Satan"to flee" in the mighty name of JESUS CHRIST. Don't let Satan bluff you out of your cleansing journey with GOD.

7) Ask a trusted friend to pray for you in areas of needed change. There is enormous power when two or more "agree together" concerning a prayer request {Matthew 18:19}. If you are determined, you can find full victory for any sin GOD reveals in your life. Don't let pride keep you from confessing your needs and struggles to others {James 5:16} There is awesome power in united agreement and I strongly urge you to find a regular prayer partner. No matter how much you've struggled, you will see victory if you trust GOD and refuse to give up {Luke 18:1}.
